Sebra Prints opened in August 2003 out of a passion for antique prints, and a desire to offer good quality, original prints, across a wide range of topics.

We specialize in antique engravings and lithographs from 17th,18th and 19th centuries as well as some early 20th century works. We cover a huge range of styles, artists and subject matter.

Sebra Prints is owned by Dafydd Davies has over 20 years experience dealing with antique prints, both in Australia and in London.

The name Sebra comes from an admiration for the mezzotint engraving of a zebra after George Stubbs which is titled 'Sebra'.

The Convict Ship 'Success' Albumen photograph cabinet card. C1890. 105mm by 165mm (card). Cabinet card size albumen photograph of the convict ship 'Success'. 'Wishing you a Merry Xmas' printed on right side of the card. 'Convict hulk 'Success'' inscribed in pencil on the reverse. 'Success' was an Australian prison ship, built in 1840 at Natmoo, Burma, for Cockerell & Co. of Calcutta. Between the 1890s and the 1930s, she was converted into a floating museum displaying relics of the convict era.

Silver gelatin stereoview photograph. 1901. 86mm by 177mm (card). On 10th July 1901 a disastrous fire razed the Anthony Horden building, costing the lives of 5 employees at the time, and another death during demolition. A couple of light foxing spots.

Rare mezzotint engraving depicting convicts on their way from Newgate Prison to the docks for transportation. CONDITION : Trimmed to the image and below the title. Publication line missing. A couple of small faint creases. A couple of small areas of very faint browning. Some marks on the reverse of the sheet. Professionally conserved.
