Douglas Stewart Fine Books will be featuring a variety of materials relating to Australian exploration, Australian art, and New South Wales history. Highlights include a magnificent first edition of Hawkesworth’s account of Cook’s first voyage (1773), the Tom Austen Brown copy, completely uncut in original boards, and the Davidson copy of Callander’s Terra Australis Cognita (1766-68). An artistic and literary highlight is Hugh McCrae’s own copy of Idyllia, sourced directly from his descendants, complete with five signed Norman Lindsay etchings and a manuscript poem signed by McCrae. An original painting by Rosaleen Norton is a wicked occult indulgence. A selection of historical photographs, maps, and ephemera will also be worth browsing.
